In the Music Department, every Catholic High gentleman discovers the joy of making music. Through performing, creating, listening and responding, pupils develop musical confidence, creativity and an appreciation of music, culture and community.

Our Learning Journey: Expose, Experience, Enrich
Our six-year journey progressively develops musical knowledge, skills and confidence. Pupils are exposed to diverse instruments and musical traditions, experience music through hands-on music-making and collaboration, and are enriched through increasingly creative and meaningful musical experiences.

What Students Experience and Learn Through Music
From xylophone in Primary 1 and ethnic percussion in Primary 2, to keyboard in Primary 3, ukulele and recorder in Primary 4, pupils progressively develop their instrumental and ensemble skills. In Primary 5, they explore creative rhythm through cup and pen rhythm and STOMP!, while in Primary 6, they create music with GarageBand and explore local composers and world music.
Pupils learn to listen, perform, create and connect. Through instrumental playing, rhythm, ensemble work and digital music creation, they develop musical skills, creativity, collaboration and an appreciation of music across cultures.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
Through performances, showcases, ensembles and school and community events, pupils apply their musical learning in authentic settings and grow as confident creators, collaborative performers and appreciative members of the wider cultural community.
